  <p>The original author’s commentary: Leading anglers around the world use Italian-made reels, particularly Everol. The author credits Everol as a pioneer of lever-drag designs and points to the reels pictured in Ken Fraser’s book about record bluefin tuna. I regard these reels as robust fighting machines, straightforward to dismantle and reassemble because their mechanics are simple and efficient. They are used internationally in demanding weather. Yet, as the saying goes, no one is a prophet in their own country: Italian craftsmanship and technology often find buyers abroad while we buy imported alternatives. To me, the Special Series is a classic associated with record tuna catches, power and reliability. These are the author’s assessments and historical claims.</p> <p>The Special Series uses a floating multi-disc drag with forced-air cooling, progressive lever control and a stop marking the maximum drag position. Five double-shielded stainless-steel bearings support precise, balanced operation. Many of us buy Chinese, American or Japanese products while anglers abroad fish with equipment conceived, designed and developed in Italy.   EVEROL INFINITE

  <p>The Everol Infinite is a compact conventional reel for top-shot fishing, with a narrow, deep spool and open top for direct hand access. It has harness lugs, an aluminium body and stainless-steel gearing. The multi-disc drag uses three carbon discs and two steel discs, controlled by a lever with approximately 240-degree travel. Five shielded stainless-steel bearings and a large one-way bearing support the mechanism. Handle length can be set to 92, 100 or 108 mm.
