Trecciati Braid

Questa categoria è formata dai braid e dai fusi. I primi sono trecce di fibre polimeriche derivanti dal polietilene, che dopo essere state tessute vengono ricoperte di cere, resine teflon o silicone, al fine di rendere il prodotto più scorrevole durante lanci e recuperi, e a proteggerlo dall’abrasione e dagli agenti atmosferici. I fusi, invece, pur essendo formati da fibre simili a quelle dei braid, sono il risultato di procedimenti differenti, per lo più processi termici, che con vari passaggi di fusione delle fibre polimeriche si trasformano in un unico filamento. Le differenze principali sono la scorrevolezza, la morbidezza e la resistenza. Il braid è sicuramente più morbido e scorrevole del fuso, ma non altrettanto resistente. Entrambi i due trecciati sono praticamente privi di elasticità e memoria, risultando essere molto più resistenti di un nylon. Per contro, anche quelli bianchi o traslucidi, non possiedono la trasparenza che caratterizza i nylon e i fluorocarbon e di conseguenza sono più visibili in acqua.
